Re: Who is the true ROCOR or ROCA now?

It is somewhere in one of the GOC websites. I read about it about 6 months ago. Bishop Petros was made a bishop by a group of priests and layman in the mid 1950's. ROCOR had nothing to do with this. ROCOR bishops were friends with him before and after this episcopal ordination. I am sure the members...

Re: Who is the true ROCOR or ROCA now?

One is always free to question the consecration of 1948. The Synod in 1935 (three bishops from the NC) was received by the 25,000 people in Greece who had protested because they repented of their 11 years in the NC. I am not "Orthodox in Michigan." The Cross of 1925 appeared above a church...

Re: Who is the true ROCOR or ROCA now?

The only magical ordination of a bishop by priests or layman that I know of was Petros of Astoria in the 1950's.

Re: Who is the true ROCOR or ROCA now?

St Matthew was a bishop and not just a monk in 1948 when he performed his single handed consecration after begging Chrysostomos of Florina for years to discard his heterodox beliefs and agree again to the union of 1935. It is also important to note that Chrysostomos was a big public admirer of Stali...

Re: Where Did The 8th Ecumenical Council Go?

Unfortunately I cannot read Greek and so I cannot read St. Nektarios on this period. I would hope that there would be a translation into English of his entire works and St. Matthew's entire works as well. But perhaps it would help more that they are translated into Russian in that there are very few...

Re: Where Did The 8th Ecumenical Council Go?

There is another aspect of ignoring and/or not applying the Councils of 879, 1285, 1341-51 and 1672 that confuses me. In 1922 and 1923 the Jerusalem Patriarchate and Church of Cyprus accepted Anglican sacraments as valid and grace filled. There was no real reaction from the entire Orthodox Church to...

Re: Where Did The 8th Ecumenical Council Go?

I meant "task" or job to translate all of this. St. Gennadius Scholarios did repent and St. Mark supported him. The French translator of St. Gennadius (Jugie) was very pro Latin and should be taken with more than a grain of salt. He was very much like Gibbon with regard to the Orthodox Chu...
