Re: Is Islam a Christian Heresy?

I can't edit my post, but one great resource on this is St. John of Damascus. He referred to Islam as a heresy. So did St. Nikon of Salamis. I could talk about Sufism and such but the Saints actually highlight where and how Islam took from Christianity and how it spawned out of it. I might post the ...

A wonderful Saint. I say that along with Sts. Vladimir and Olga, Sts. Feodosiy and Antony are the most important Russian Saints! May they pray unto God for us!

Re: Matrona of Moscow: Distraction from the REAL Saints

I don't know if it's a mistranslation or not, but with this Matrona of Moskva, I know one thing our dearest brother Nektarios (who is on this forum) pointed out was that Matrona of Moskva has a near identical vita to St. Matrona of Anemnyasevo, who was a Katakombnik and a New Martyr who died in pris...

Re: A Milan Synod (1978-2012) Historical Thread

@Jean-Serge I hate to spam this thread with replies (I plan on making this my last one) but the UAOC *did not* have its origins in the MP. Filaret Denysenko came from the MP but he was involved in the UOC-KP, not the UAOC. The UAOC's origins are... interesting, because there's three different narrat...

Re: A Milan Synod (1978-2012) Historical Thread

I am not going to justify the short-lived (two years) union with the confused and divided UAOC, though I will say Patriarch Volodymyr was a respected hierarch who had renounced Soviet citizenship in 1976 and was likely poisoned to death. I assumed the union was not solely with the Milan Synod, as I...

Re: A Milan Synod (1978-2012) Historical Thread

Did the synod approve of Abp Aux. granting a tomos of autonomy to Milan? Is it required for synodal approval for a tomos to be granted? From what I hear regarding counter arguments, the main counter argument against the tomos of autonomy granted to Milan was that it was done without synodal approva...
